Strengthening Sales & Enhancing Experience

The Welsh Rugby Union entered the Autumn Internationals with two clear objectives: to strengthen ticket sales and to enhance the overall supporter experience throughout the series. iVisit Media delivered a multi-layered engagement strategy designed to achieve both, creating a memorable atmosphere for fans and driving results for the WRU.

Elevating the Matchday Fan Zone

Across all four November fixtures—Wales vs Argentina, Japan, New Zealand, and South Africa—we elevated the matchday fan zone by offering free face painting for supporters. This activation proved consistently popular, creating a vibrant, family-friendly environment that engaged more positively with the WRU brand. The visual impact of thousands of fans proudly displaying Welsh colours also contributed to a more unified and energetic stadium atmosphere.

Strategic Experiential Roadshow

In addition to matchday enhancements, we executed a targeted experiential roadshow leading up to the highly anticipated Wales vs South Africa game. Starting on Wednesday, we implemented an intensive blanket distribution campaign across Cardiff city centre, ensuring maximum visibility through leafleting and poster placement, effectively saturating high-traffic areas.

Simultaneously, our Brand Engagement Team was deployed at Cardiff Central Station during commuter peaks to hand out materials, conduct vox pops, and build real-time buzz among local supporters. The momentum continued on Thursday in Newport and on Friday in Swansea, with identical blanket distributions and train-station activations designed to capture regional audiences across South Wales.

Extending the Excitement

This combination of high-impact physical presence, consistent fan interaction, and strategic timing allowed us to extend the excitement of the Autumn Internationals beyond the stadium itself. By maintaining visibility across major commuter hubs and city centres, we successfully drove awareness, reinforced matchday anticipation, and supported late-stage ticket purchasing. Ultimately, iVisit Media’s integrated approach aligned directly with the WRU’s goals by boosting engagement, enhancing the supporter experience, and contributing to a more dynamic Autumn Internationals campaign.
